I am a very active person, engaging in many sports activities, gardening, and other forms of physical activity. I have always been thin and wired as a "doer." When I graduated from high school I weighed about 140 pounds, a real light-weight. That was 40 years ago. Up until a couple of years ago, I weighed in at about 150 pounds, which for me was about ten pounds over where I feel most comfortable. I know, I know, you don't have to say it, but really, I felt uncomfortable at 150 pounds. I know my unwanted weight does not seem anywhere close to the challenge that some might face, but, for my physique, ten pounds might as well have been fifty. My cholesterol and Triglycerides were elevated and I really didn't understand why I couldn't lose the weight and get my cholesterol and triglycerides down, especially since I was so active in sports. I had done a few triathlons, biking 50 or so miles was no big deal, and I was a swimmer and played basketball. So, why did I still have the love handles and the extra ten pounds?
Well, the answer is now very clear and I am happy to report that I am down to my high school weight of about 140 pounds. How I did it, and how you too can lose the unwanted pounds is not a mystery, nor is it a matter of eating salads all day or having lap band surgery (which by the way in not the answer to effective long term weight loss and is quite the drastic move). It has more to do with the quality of food than most anything else. For example, I can have a T-bone steak on one hand which can be one of the most toxic foods someone can consume, and I can have a T-bone steak on the other hand which can be one the best foods someone can consume. What's the difference? One is the typical steak that is purchased at the grocery store that is contaminated with bovine growth hormones, steroids, antibiotics, pesticides and is fed genetically modified grain. This can make you fat and prone to chronic dis-ease, including cancer. The other steak comes from 100 percent grass-fed, organically raised beef. This can help to keep us healthy with many "usable" nutrients, protein, and a healthy balance of omega 3 and omega 6 fatty acids and no chemicals that cause cancer. I have a full discussion of this and many other health related issues on my DVD Health and Wellness in a Toxic World which can be ordered on this site.
The poor quality of our food chain is the single most important factor in the fattening up of Americans. Every sector of the food chain is contaminated with toxic chemicals and has poor nutritional value including meats, dairy, boxed and canned foods, vegetables and fruits. Americans are actually being starved into being fat! There are currently over 200 million Americans who are overweight and it is getting worse every year. In 1987, the national obesity rate was about 10%. As of 2008 the rate has tripled to over 30% . The problem is minimally about genetics; it has more to do with calculated efforts to put addictive and nutritionally inferior foods into the grocery stores (all for the sake of profits) which then make us sickly, fat and prone to a multitude of dis-eases including cancer.
Secondarily, it is about the failure of the medical profession to teach people how to stay healthy. I can say this with authority because I have been a physician and surgeon for over twenty-five years. I KNOW of what I speak! The vast majority of what we are taught centers around prescribing toxic drugs to treat otherwise preventable and curable dis-eases. Insurance carriers also reimburse physicians for treating sickness, not for getting people healthy and off their very expensive medications (thanks to the pharmaceutical industry). This is a major flaw in the health system and the healthcare crisis will never, I repeat N-E-V-E-R, get any better until physicians teach people how to stay healthy and insurance carriers learn to reimburse physicians for doing so.
Now, if you want to lose weight, I put before you a challenge to try my recommendations for ninety days. What I am recommending is the same protocol I used in a research project to show that Type 2 Diabetes is curable. I put a group of diabetics on a nutritionally sound protocol for ninety days and at the end of that time, seven of the nine in the study were off their diabetic medication as well as their high blood pressure, high cholesterol medication and were losing pounds! You can do it too! To read about the study, go to the page, Yes, Diabetes Can be Cured.
I recommend Young Living's Core Essentials Complete nutritional plan for a balanced approach to meet the body's cellular needs on a daily basis. This program contains only the highest grade of food- based nutritional supplements (not man-made like you will see in other formulas which the body cannot effectively utilize) and is simply the best health formulation available. When the body gets the nutrition that the cells are asking for, it responds with "I'm healthy" signals such as weight loss, healthier immune system to fight diseases, more energy, better sleep patterns, healthier relationships and attitude, and mental clarity. Read more about Core Essentials Complete here.
For losing a lot of weight, I recommend replacing two meals per day with the Balance Complete component of the Core Essentials Complete formula. You can replace one meal as it recommends, but it may take longer to lose the desired weight. Just as a side note to show what a nutritionally powerful formula this is, I know one person who lost 100 pounds in a year just from replacing his daily sodas with the NingXia Red drink that is part of the Core Essentials formulation. Losing weight on the Core Essentials Complete formula will keep you healthy and, because your cells are getting the nutrition that is needed, the cravings for food stop. So, get after it and choose to get healthy with Core Essentials Complete. Please feel free to e-mail me with questions and be sure to send in your story after you have lost all those unwanted pounds.
By the way, about cholesterol and cholesterol lowering medications. This medication is very toxic to the body. You can learn more at www.westonaprice.org/moderndiseases/statin.html. Cholesterol is not the problem and, believe it or not, there is no such thing as good cholesterol and bad cholesterol, despite what you may hear from your doctor. HDL, LDL, and VLDL are NOT cholesterol, they are "carriers" of cholesterol. When the body gets out of whack through something called "silent inflammation", then cholesterol (high or low) gets oxidized and then becomes problematic by sticking to the walls of coronary arteries. This has been known for over twenty years. Dr. DeBakey, the famous Houston heart surgeon concluded in the 1980s that cholesterol was not the problem since he saw just as many people for open heart surgery who had low cholesterol as those with high cholesterol. What causes the silent inflammation that produces free radicals that damages cholesterol that clogs coronary arteries? Toxins in our food and environment, processed foods that we buy at the grocery store, anti-nutrients, trans fats, refined sugars, and even emotional stress. Also, many processed foods and even high fructose corn syrup (which is in just about everything), causes the body's natural cholesterol balancing mechanism through HDL, LDL, and VLDL to go haywire and elevates triglycerides. Your doctor sees these abnormalities through routine blood tests and if they are off, he will put you on medications to correct the problem. Not a good game plan. Going to the root cause of the abnormality is the correct approach. Medications only treat symptoms, they do not correct the problem. Making wise food choices with certified organic foods, grass-fed and pastured meats, raw dairy if at all possible instead of pasteurized/homogenized dairy, and supplementing with NingXia Red or the entire Core Essentials Complete nutrition package is a very wise choice. Here is a before and after picture of our friend Marley, who lost over 40 pounds in 6 months on the Core Essentials Complete program. From 170 pounds to 130 pounds! She did not "diet" but ate sensible meals with mostly organic foods and was very faithful with using the Core Essentials Complete products. Her daily Balance Complete shake was mixed with full-fat raw cow milk! Don't fall for the politically correct "low fat" foods! Endogize was also a part of her daily routine.
